Self-care doesn't need a spa day. A few minutes each evening, with the right basics, can turn the end of the day into something to look forward to.
Step 1: Cleanse
Start with a gentle cleanser to remove the day's dirt and makeup. Use lukewarm water rather than hot.
Step 2: Exfoliate (once or twice a week)
Exfoliating gloves or a gentle scrub help remove dry skin, especially on elbows, knees and heels. Don't overdo it: once or twice a week is plenty for most people.
Step 3: Treat and hydrate
Apply a serum or eye gel if you use one, then a moisturizer. For the body, a rich cream after a shower helps lock in moisture.
Step 4: Relax
A foot massager pad, a leg massager or a massage pillow for your lower back can help you unwind after a long day on your feet or at a desk.
Step 5: Set the mood
Dim the lights, add a candle or a salt lamp, and keep your phone out of reach for ten minutes.
A few reminders
- Patch-test new skincare products on a small area first.
- Follow each product's instructions.
- If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or have concerns, check with a health professional before using massage devices.
